Awful completely awful!!!
Bought a set of tires and got an oil change here. No issues with either. I don't know how they would be with more complicated mechanical problems. My reason for choosing Sears, was that they are open on Sunday. If your in town and need service of any type, this is one of the only options. It may be the only option.
I have my doubts that they even looked at it because they called me about an hour later and told me my tires were out of round (bent rim or manufacturing defect) and balancing wouldn't fix the wobble. Took it the next day for a second opinion at Eberts and the tires were about 1 ounce off balance (actually worse with weights on than off). They balanced without issue and now I no longer have a wobble.
Unless I have a big coupon or something I probably won't be visiting here again.
I went there two weeks ago to get my ac fixed. Was there over THREE hours just for the mechanic to tell me that nothing was wrong with my air but the switch wasnt clicking from heat to air. They said they couldnt fix it bc the dashboard had to be opened up. The lie detector determined that was a LIE! The mechanic that I went to today said that I needed a new blend door actuator and for my car that involves going through the glove dept and UNDER the dash to reach the compartment. There was no reason they should have not been able to fix it at sears. And to add insult to injury they still charged me 70$ for a diagnostic for something they simply refused to fix.
Recently had a windshield replaced here. Took about an hour and a half. Looks great.
Before I went to my new mechanic today. I came back to sears bc my check engine light came on. I had already looked under my hood and saw visibly with my naked eye that a spark plug wire was shorting out and sparking in the back. I explained this to the clerk and was told if they didn't do a diagnostic and something else was wrong they wouldnt be liable. I was told that it would cost 89.99 for a diagnostic AND it wouldnt be taken off even I got the work done there. So i went to auto zone to get a diagnostic and it came up with a misfire on an ignition coil. I took the printed sheet back to sears and was told that their diagnostic was more accurate so i agreed to do their diagnostic bc I knew my wires were bad and likely the issue. Im not a mechanic so I wanted to be sure. THREE HOURS LATER...the mechanic comes out and says the wire going to the ignition coil was not pushed in all the way and could have caused sparking. I got in my car and made one right turn and the check engine light came back on. So I went back to the front desk and explained that the check engine light was still on. She says "oh we were just looking at the ignition coil. so you wanna do the diagnostic?"...........bruh......why was I waiting three hours for this nonsense that didnt even get inspected!! So and ADDITIONAL TWO HOURS passed and then I was told that the diagnostic machine was updating and couldn't come up with a read. i was told that I would be called back when the machine was up (that never happened). We are in the year 2016, it takes server boards less than 30 minutes to update and I''m supposed to believe it takes a whole day for a simple diagnostic machine to update? As far as I'm concerned I was REFUSED service twice at this location.
I went to Tommy's auto repair on desiard st. the same day and within ten minutes of arriving, a free diagnostic was given and wow.... my wires were bad just like I said from the beginning. After my engine cooled down, they put the wires on in like 20 minutes. My whole day was wasted and because I was there all day at sears, I had to call off work. Its safe to say you have lost a customer and I would NEVER recommend this company for any auto services. and I will be calling or writing to corporate about this horrible experience.
Took my truck here a few times to get serviced. My first trip was uneventful which was an oil change. My second trip was to get my wheels balanced because there was some vibration at highway speeds. They were busy when I got there so I dropped it off.
Went in Sears for a second opinion on my check engine light. I was told by another shop two bad converters and oxygen sensors. I dropped my truck off, 45 minutes later I received a call from Sears stating I need two ignition coils and plugs. They had me ready in about 1 hour and a half. Two months later and still no engine light. Keep up the honest and great work Sears
