We were going through LA on our way to TX and I had a gumbo craving. I looked for places with gumbo in the Monroe area and found this little hole in the wall. It was, as my boyfriend said, worth every penny. Now, in all honesty, my father in law makes a better gumbo (but, in all fairness, he learned his recipe from a chef in a restaurant in LA) but this one was still better than most I've tried. The fried gator, shrimp, fish - I ordered a dish with fried fish over rice and covered in etouffe. The etouffe is what won me over. The fries were nicely seasoned. The onion rings were handmade. And the service was a delight, attentive and friendly. If we ever drive through Monroe, we'd gleefully stop again!
Excellent food, especially the catfish, shrimp, po-boys, and gumbo! Burgers are great and orders can be called in for pickup. Nice place for weekday or weekend evenings, without the "bar" atmosphere.
I absolutely love this place! A great place to get a taste of Cajun food or fried fish, shrimp, and oysters. They also have a daily home style meal that will give you the feeling of eating at mamaw's house!

This is one of those local hole-in-the-wall places, but they serve up a good variety of Cajun home cooking. If you've been to a local Mexican place, you understand the ambiance. Tasty, quick, and excellently priced. Would eat here again!
